Our Story:

Tucked under the arches in one of the oldest buildings in Venice Beach, on one of the most historic streets in the city, you find Market — a modern Italian restaurant.
The plates are a modern twist on Italian cuisine, designed to be shared European family-style.

A space with a notable history.

In November, 2000, an iconic Venice Beach restaurant, on an iconic Venice Beach street, closed its doors after a remarkable 18-year run. But not quite forever: In March of 2022, suddenly and surprisingly, everything old is new again.

Market completely revises and reimagines what was once the classic, groundbreaking, 72 Market Street Oyster Bar and Grill.
A space that was formerly sequestered behind closed doors is now open and airy. White tablecloths are history; in their place, wooden round tops and comfy settees. The old 8-foot bar is now a 20-footer.
The original façade of patinaed copper is gone... in fact, the entire front wall is gone; in its place, 12 foot-tall glass doors open onto the sidewalk and street, a mere half-block from the beach and boardwalk.

Seasonal Italian cooking in Venice Beach

The kitchen cooks seasonal Italian food with California produce, seafood and house-made pasta at its center. Our pasta is made in house, from spicy vodka Lumache to carbonara and bolognese.

Start with oysters, salmon crudo, burrata or crispy squash blossoms, then share a few plates the way Italians do, family style, with hanger steak or charred branzino for the table.

The wine list leans Italian, and our cocktails draw on unsung Italian liqueurs and amari, made for a sundowner on the patio or a Negroni at the bar.

Every day from 5:30 to 6:30pm we pour Aperitivo, the Italian ritual of an early drink and a small bite before dinner: spritzes, martinis and cava alongside oysters and supplì.

Whether it's dinner for two, a birthday with friends or a big group, Market is the neighborhood Italian restaurant. Book a table on Resy, or walk in and grab a seat at the bar.
